The Bellinger
Instruments P/L TPD-100e Time/Position/Data Encoder-Decoder is a
stand-alone device housed in a 2U rack that connects to the NMEA
or RS232 output of an EXTERNAL GPS Receiver. Using standard GGA,VTG
& ZDA data strings from the GPS receiver the TPD-100e formats
selected information and presents it for recording as audio tones
on an Auxiliary Voice/Audio track of any Wideband Tape Recorder.
The following
information is recorded on tape in 1 Second updates;
- The name of the platform
or vessel the recording is being made on.
- The current GPS Corrected
Time (UTC).
- The current GPS derived
Julian Day, Month & Year.
- The current GPS Latitude
& Longitude. (This data can be overridden by the front panel
“Sanitise” button)
- The current GPS Course-Over-Ground.
- The Tape Recorder
and ELINT Source’s Identification Data.
Up to 120 characters of “User Defined Text” to describe
Mission, Operator details or Tape Archival Information. This user
text and the Platform/Equipment ID can be easily entered by the
operator using the front panel miniature “Qwerty”
keyboard.
- A remote control
input is also supplied to enable automatic synchronisation of
Encode and Decode modes with Record and Play modes on the Tape
Recorder.
- All indicators and
the display are master dimmable by a front panel control for operation
in low light environments.
- A “Customer
Specific”, factory installed option, provides two rear panel
serial ports for connection to external equipment (eg Microwave
Receivers). This external equipment can be polled periodically
and the customer specified parameters are then recorded as part
of the timecode signal.
This can enable a whole “theatre of operation” to
be to be recorded on the Wideband Tape Recorder for ELINT applications.
